WordPress 2.4 Skips Release: WordPress 2.5 Next
January 4th, 2008 | Filed under Blogging, WordPress.Wordpress 2.4 has been declared a skipped release and WordPress 2.5 will be the next official version to release. After you have upgraded to the very essential WordPress 2.3.2 upgrade, you can read on why this change has occured…
Matt Mullenwerg has announced in the Wp-Hacker mailing list that…
In light of the big changes happening in the codebase and admin section, we’re going to push back the next release to be aimed for early March. This is the timeframe when 2.5 was originally schedule for, so we’re treating the originally planned 2.4 in December as a skipped release, as a result of both the holidays and the large changes which we weren’t able to start on until late October. There’s some good stuff in the oven, and we don’t want to rush it. The new release shall be called 2.5. Various official docs and roadmaps will be updated in due course.
Checking the Wordpress Roadmap reveals the possible release dates now
2.4 - January 24, 2008
2.5 - April 1, 2008
2.6 - July 3, 2008
The WordPress 2.4 Administration Panel Preview was leaking out and you can check it on this demo blog or the video.
Now the 2.4 milestone does not exist on Wordpress Trac, and you can track Wordpress 2.5 under development.
