AVG 8 Free Antivirus Software

AVG 8 - Free Antivirus Software
AVG Free antivirus provides basic antivirus and antispyware protection for Windows and is available to download for free. However, it is to be noted it has limited features, no technical support, no server protection, limited languages and is for private and non-commercial use only. But if you need all those features, you need to pay for a commercial internet security software, or upgrade to the commercial version.
What Free AVG does not include - it does not include the proactive safe-surfing of the full LinkScanner module that is included in the commercial AVG products, nor the protection against hackers, keyloggers, spam, phishing attacks, rootkits and malicious file downloads that can come through instant messaging and attachments. The free product does not include 24 hour email support provided with the commercial products.
If you cannot afford to buy Norton Antivirus or McAfee antivirus and are looking for a basic free antivirus software on your computer or laptop, then download free AVG 8 antivirus - a great software to protect your computer from viruses. Remember AVG Free 8.0 is intended for personal and non-commercial use on single computers on home running Windows 2000, XP or Vista.

FORGET V8.x, do NOT upgrade!!!!
I loved AVG up to V7.5, but the new one is crap. Agiant ressource hog, that will bring slow computers to a halt. Best to be avoided!

AVG version 8 has my cpu running at 100% most of the time and I’m not the only one. It’s good but a real resource hog that slows me down big time. Only upgraded because the nag screen said there would be no more updates available for 7.5 after May. Lots of people are saying the same and AVG needs to look into this problem. Upgrade with caution if you have an older pc…

I have been using Free AVG and I have downloaded
8.0 at least 3 times, but I still get notices
that I must update 7.5 to 8.0 by July 25.
Do I need to remove any or all of the 7 versions that show up on my desktop? Help, please!

The software, free version is superb. i.e. avg free version 8.0
However, after daily auto-updates, TODAY, there was a statement saying .bin file is missing.
Please help and suggest measures.
