How to Test Website Load Time

July 27th, 2008
ADVERTISEMENTS

Do you know how fast your website load time is? A Fast loading website is the first step to a successful online presence, but you will be surprised how many scripts and widgets may be slowing your site to a crawl. Pingdom has a solution to check your site upload time in one click.

Test Fast Loading Websites

Pingdom is a popular uptime performance monitoring service for websites and servers. They also host a free load time test for web pages. The Full Page Test loads a complete HTML page including all objects (images, CSS, JavaScripts, RSS, Flash and frames/iframes) and displays the load time of all objects visually with time bars. Also see the statistics like the total number of objects, total load time, and size including all objects.

To start, simply enter your url and check the detailed graph of how each element loads on your webpage, from connection to the complete load and it will help you identify the scripts or widgets or other issues which are slowing down your website, such that you can fix them.

They recently created a bookmarklet called Analyze load time. Simply drag it to your bookmarks toolbar and click to use it on any webpage to test its loading time in one click. I found this service very useful and I am sure every webmaster and blogger will too. How fast does your homepage load?

I just love the way the bars are animated, indicating how he files are getting loaded . You easily get to know which files lag behind and all. Does anybody know any other such tool ?
