I have been considering a contest … I am currently a Blogging Idol contestant and I know it’s an effective way to get new subscribers. We are not allowed to spend any money to promote our site so I will get busy looking for sponsors who want to donate a product or service. @ Rajeev, you missed the point…if you get 10k unique, you would promote the contest MORE within your blog rather than outside. I didn’t say you would not promote outside. Obviously you would, but if you have 10k unique you have good traffic to focus on within your blog as well.

If I am getting 10K visitors per day on my blog, why won’t I promote my contest outside my blog? Is there any specific reason for that?

Darren and Chris G promote their contests on various social media sites and use every platform to spread the word, although they get high traffic on their blogs.

I do not see any reason why I won’t promote my contest outside my blog, if I am getting high traffic!
