"rm -rf" can be your friend
(in case others need to know what the Linux command was)

WP-supercache is too easy of an answer unfortunately in that it hides a great deal of bad plugin design and an ever growing WordPress bloat.

@Donncha - Clear Cache button deleted all folders in the quickonlinetips.com folder but not the other 2 folders I mentioned. The hundreds of loop folders were created under the supercache folder only.

very comprehensive indeed.

Please be advised that, most of the shared web hosting do not allow cache wp plugins, so always talk to the hosting before you run any sort of cache scripts, otherwise, you will probably be suspended without prior notice.

I would definitely recommend cache wp plugins to use if you have VPS or dedicated server, it takes CPU consumption, however it will give you super fast access as well.

great post as always.

Hmm, I left a comment on this post on another site. I presume one that scrapes yours?

The empty directory problem was solved a few months back, and you should have been able to delete those directories using the Clear Cache button the plugin admin page.

Those directories look like some sort of redirect loop? I don't think it's supercache doing that (as you surmise yourself) but it kindly created the directories to go along with those requests!
