Join the club on disabled Dreamhost accounts – and don’t expect a reason or honest answer even if you have been hosting with them for five years.

Basically they can’t be trusted to conduct a normal commercial relationship.

I just concluded a lengthy, exhaustive research for a new WordPress web host, and the net is littered with DreamHost complaints, ESPECIALLY from WordPress blog hosters who achieved successful traffic levels, only to be surprise-attacked by DreamHost who shut them off and held their sites hostage.

It’s funny to read the comments here and see more of the same. I am SO glad I did my research first!!

Dreamhost and Knowhost, heard great things about both. I myself haven’t got a chance to use them yet, if everything goes wrong with HostGator (an awesome host) I will look into it. All 3 seem to have great options.

We have been having our periods of downtime, but they were isolated incidents. Every host has downtimes, and many times its unavoidable and Dreamhost never hid the fact from public.

But there is no denying the fact that we had a great hosting experience for 3 years, and surviving 700,000 pageviews per month on shared hosting is really good. If I had to start a new site on shared hosting, I would still not hesitate to choose Dreamhost.

Any host can disable your account for any reason, just keep backups and it doesn’t really make a difference as you can easily migrate in a 1-2 days. The Dreamhost links have been removed.

Dreamhost disabled my account too.
It is very unfriendly in such cases.
