Make friends and look to serve is a big one that you mentioned. Another thing I think people should consider is making their blog attractive and user friendly. It should be easy to find, easy to navigate and their should be many ways to follow your blog as well as share the content. 5700 hits in one month is worth bragging about, thanks for sharing how you did it.
