It also gets people coming back to your site and brands the blog. An automatic free email service. Some people come to a blog, leave a comment, and never come back because they forgot about it.
I know this because I do this all the time and the ones that have a plugin like this get my following more than any blog without it.

Someone else had also mentioned installing a plugins to allow comment subscribers. At first I thought this was unnecessary. Since then I realized that if you have a really good discussion going, it will definitely benefit your commentators and therefore increase the value of that post. You end up with better quality comments that are more on target and more juicy than they otherwise would be.

It makes sense.

Saket, I agree also and I just started using it a few months ago. For one of my sites I will tell people to ask me questions on my blog instead of email so everyone can learn from each other. Then when I would answer the question on the blog, some of those people wouldn’t know that I responded to them or even forgot that they asked the question.

With this plugin, it gets more people back to your blog and helps solve the problem of forgetting about the question all together.
