The Volkswagen Vento audio advertisement in the Indian newspapers was the biggest ad buzz this week which reached millions of Indians across major cities.

As readers of Hindu and The Times of India newspaper in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and Chennai lifted their daily newspaper a few days back, they were surprised as their newspaper started speaking about the Volkswagen Vento!

This ad was much like the audio greeting cards, which you open an an audio message starts playing. People claim that its the first ever advertising campaign of this type in the world, at such a scale to reach millions of newspaper readers. The Economic Times says the talking advertisement  2.2 million copies of the newspaper using a light-sensitive device, embedded with a microchip, speakers and batteries – Created at a Volkswagen plant in China. So how did it cost? Its a secret, but now surely everyone in major Indian cities knows about the Volkswagen Vento.

      well it definitely was a surprise when I picked it up. I guess they targeted only major metro cities as lot of money was spent.
