Did Your Site Pass the Google Mobile-Friendly Test?

Have you checked your site on the official Google Mobile-Friendly Test to see how your site appears on mobile devices and meets mobile design standards. There is no doubt that your website has to be mobile friendly and Google has created this useful test to validate the same.

Evolution of Mobile Websites

While earlier the trend was to create a separate mobile website for your domain using the ‘m’ subdomain (m.yoursite.com), it was soon challenged by creating a new .mobi domain name for your website. But over the years, the best practice has now been to have a single website, and give it a responsive design.

Using modern web standards, all websites should ideally have a responsive design which will works across a large variety of screen resolutions, from small mobile screens, to tablets, to laptops to giant screens. Google does agree that  a responsive website is the way to go and is essential for Mobile SEO. While many WordPress themes or other blog templates, claims to make your website mobile friendly, is it actually mobile friendly and does it give a seamless experience across different gadgets and computers.

I have seen that while most websites are designed to work best at standard desktop sizes, webmasters fail to upgrade their site design to meet the requirement of a large majority of their users who visit via mobile devices. They then encounter minified text, horizontal scrolling, broken scripts and generally unusable and un-navigable site!
