Top 5 Facebook Chat Instant Messengers

Which are the best Facebook chat instant messengers? Since its launch in April 2008, Facebook Chat is rapidly gaining market share in the Instant Messaging market – most notably Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. Indeed, back in June 2009 Facebook announced that they were sending over 1 billion instant messages a day.

Without a doubt, most of my friends have shifted their instant messaging usage from using just Windows Live Messenger to Facebook Chat. Unlike traditional desktop instant messengers, however, Facebook Chat is restrictive to its use in your web-browser, and lacks a lot of features that I’ve grown used to in other Instant Messengers – features such as “Chat History” and Sign in notifications. Thankfully, there are some excellent third party instant messengers for Facebook Chat:

Chit Chat for Facebook

If Facebook were to develop their own desktop instant messenger, chances are, it would look something like Chit Chat for Facebook. Chit Chat boasts a clean and easy to use buddy list, instant message notifications, status alerts and a tabbed message window. In my opinion, it’s a better way to use Facebook Chat.

However, what I particularly like about Chit Chat is how easy it makes it for me to format my own instant messages and add emoticons. Much easier than in web based Facebook Chat. But that’s just me; I’m a huge fan of emoticons!

Those of you that like for your instant messages to be saved for future reference will love the Chat History feature.

Digsby

Whilst Chit Chat for Facebook is just for Facebook Chat. Digsby is a Swiss army knife of desktop instant messaging, Digsby supports MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Facebook Chat – and that’s to mention a few!

Whilst use of Digsby is a prettier instant messenger than Chit Chat, and provides access to additional instant messenger networks simultaneously – Digsby tries to be all things to all people. If you need to be logged into multiple networks at once Digsby is great.

However, unlike Chit Chat for Facebook the formatting of text messages don’t work from Digsby to Facebook Chat – and Digsby allows you to send emoticons that Facebook Chat simply aren’t seen by a Facebook Chat user. Digby’s implementation of chat history is excellent, however.

Meebo

Meebo provides web-based instant messenger polygamy – it allows you to connect to Facebook Chat, MSN, Yahoo Messenger and AIM. Although, why people prefer to use their browser to access instant messengers rather than a desktop application is beyond me, but I’m assured that Meebo is very popular.

Meebo’s Facebook Chat instant messaging service is in Alpha at the time of writing, and I was forced to downgrade my browser from Google Chrome to Internet Explorer 7 in order to get the instant messenger to work.

Whilst I like the clean interface of Meebo, I found it had problems talking to users on Facebook Chat on Digsby and Chit Chat for Facebook – the reverse was not true. Chit Chat users and Digsby users were able to talk to Meebo users just fine. Moreover, the emoticons that Meebo provides are just fantastic – however, Facebook Chat users simply aren’t able to see them, so they’re pretty redundant.

Meebo looks pretty nice; it’s one to watch for the future, but certainly not how I’ll be accessing Facebook Chat from now on.

Adium

Mac Fan boys, have no fear! Adium is a desktop instant messenger for Mac OS X that provides access to 15 different instant messenger services from one client, Facebook Chat being one of those. Whilst I wasn’t able to review this item, since I don’t have access to a Mac – I’ve heard good things about Adium.

Pidgin

Pidgin, the instant messaging service that has a flying rat as a logo – provides access to 20 – yup – 20 instant messaging services. Impressive. However, Facebook Chat isn’t one of those by default. So you’ll have to add a third party plug in.

One thing that I like about Pidgin is the ability for you to add a proxy, so if Facebook Chat is blocked at your work place or school – or even by your government, you can use a third party proxy. Not that we recommend bypassing that kind of thing.

Pigdins Facebook Chat service client looks pretty good, however, it doesn’t support the formatting of instant messages and it had too many Facebook Chat connection issues for my liking.

How to Activate Your Copy of Free Tally.ERP 9

How can you activate Free Tally.ERP 9? Tally India is one of India’s pioneer software company who has worked hard for protecting its software from piracy. Ever since Tally 5.4, its investment and toil in protecting its software has increased. Tally has been quite successful in its endeavor. Thats why installation and activation of Tally.ERP 9 is one of the trickiest job for a novice. Now a days Tally licensing process is one of the most protected and successful licensing system.

What I am providing here is an activation process which is neither a crack or a hack of Tally Software. It is a legitimate trial offer of Tally of its software for free for a period of 3 months. After that it would again become educational and it is users discretion whether he wants to quit, buy or rent the software. Here is the process to activate.

Before Tally activation

You need to ensure following things before activating your Tally.ERP9 license:

Check if your PC is in good condition i.e. if you are facing some problems related to virus or planing to do formatting etc. within three months then do it now because once you format, all configuration would be lost and you would not be able to activate the license.
Internet connection on PC (at least for some time )
A valid email address. If you don’t have one then make a fresh one.

Tally Activation process

Go to Tally’s site and download the latest version of software. At present release 1.52 build 242 is available which is a 17 mb file. Install by double click and when you would open, you would reach at the activation screen.

Choose the first option of Activate license. You can press Alt+A. You would get activate license screen. Go to the third option Activation of Promotional Rental License. You can also press Alt + P for that.

Here you have to enter your promotional code. That code is provided by tally. Here you have to enter the code as BPP.deepak@jhinuimpex.com. You can copy paste this code and enter in Tally.ERP9 by pressing Ctrl+Alt+V.

Now enter your email id and then repeat it again. Be care full while entering your email as Tally would send you an unlock key on your email address, so it must me typed correct. If there is any error in email address then unlock key would be sent to wrong address and you don’t have chance to correct this email address. Press enter and Tally.ERP9 would send the information on net. Now Tally would ask for unlock key.

Open your email account, copy the unlock key and paste in Tally. using Ctrl+Alt+V. Press enter and your copy of Tally.ERP is activated.

How to Manually Add Mark to Folders in Windows 7

How can you manually add marks to Folders in Windows 7? The Window Explorer of Windows 7 is much different from XP. One of the differences is that the left side is defaulted to show the navigation pane which displays in the way of tree structure. It lets you quickly locate a certain folder in deep layers. However, it is not considerate enough without conspicuously marking the current folder. Luckily, we can manually add a conspicuous mark for it.

Preparatory work: you need to collect some icon files with transparent background in .ico format and put them in a fixed place. Then let’s begin to operate. Firstly, start Registry Editor and locate in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE＼SOFTWARE＼Microsoft＼Windows＼Current Version＼explorer＼Shell Icons.

Remark: If you can not find “Shell Icons” after extending “explorer”, Please right-click “explorer” to “new build” an “item” and rename it as “Shell Icons” (make sure of the correct case and the blank space between the words).

Secondly, right-click the blank in the right side pane to create a new “string value” and name it as “4” (in case if this “4” did not exist). Thirdly, right-click “4” to choose “modify” and fill in the “Value Data” with full path for the icon you want. Finally, click OK and exit the Registry Editor.

Now, logoff and login again to open the Windows Explorer. Can you find if the icon of the chosen folder is changed? Change is not only here. You can look at the program folder in the Start menu or start the Registry Editor to have a look.
