Google Favicon Redesigns for Web 2.0

I was surprised to see Google has redesigned its favicons to display a modern web 2.0 design to all its web properties. The Google favicon, a small logo which is displayed on browser tabs, browser bookmarks and and address bar now sports a cooler look.

Here is what the Google favicon used to look like before…

And here how the new Google favicon looks like now, a shade grayer, with shaded background and in lower case with no border.

Recently they also redesigned their RSS subscribe buttons. See the new look.

Google is redesigning its logos to keep in line with the web 2.0 look and keep the emeerging design standards. Do you like the new design?
