I wrote this when it went live in May 2006, and I was excited to collect my notes &#8220;to blog about&#8221; with it.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_it_worked_in_2006\"><\/span>How it worked in 2006<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You signed in with your Google Account, agreed to the terms and installed the <strong>Google Notebook browser extension<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>After restarting the browser, a Google Notebook icon appeared in the bottom-right corner. Clicking it opened a <strong>mini Google Notebook<\/strong> where you could save clips without leaving the page.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>full-page view<\/strong> let you organize and review notebooks, add your own notes and comments, and <strong>make notebooks public<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On Google search results, a <strong>Note this<\/strong> link let you clip a result in one click.<\/li>\n<li>It worked on Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox 1.5+, but not Safari or Opera at launch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_happened_to_google_notebook\"><\/span>What happened to google notebook?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google announced on January 14, 2009 that it was stopping development of Google Notebook, though existing users could keep using it.
