The Google empire has humble origins in a garage near Menlo Park, California where the Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin<\/strong> set up office to what was to become the biggest web search giant in a few years.<\/p>\n

The Google corporate history<\/a> reveals that –<\/p>\n

“In September 1998, Google Inc. opened its door in Menlo Park, California. The door came with a remote control, as it was attached to the garage of a friend who sublet space to the new corporation’s staff of three. The office offered several big advantages, including a washer and dryer and a hot tub. It also provided a parking space for the first employee hired by the new company: Craig Silverstein, now Google’s director of technology.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And now Newsvine reports that Google has bought the garage<\/a> from one of its own employees, Susan Wojcicki, who had agreed to lease her garage to help pay the mortgage. Wojcicki is now Google’s vice president of product management, didn’t work for the company at the time and only knew the Stanford University graduate students through a friend.
