It is focused on web standards, ease of use, ease of integration, and speed. bbPress now is officially released, and called <strong>0.72: Bix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>bbPress has been in testing form for <a href=\"http:\/\/photomatt.net\/2004\/12\/29\/bbpress\/\" rel=\"noopener\">quite some time<\/a> and currently powers some popular sites like <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/\" rel=\"noopener\">WordPress support forums<\/a> and 9rules notes. It integrates with WordPress easily and has powerful spam control by Akismet.<\/p>\n<p>bbPress is governed by a <strong>few basic principles<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1. Open Source, always and forever<br \/>\n2. Less (code) is more<br \/>\n3. Simplicity is a feature<br \/>\n4. Speed and security are the foundation of any good user experience<br \/>\n5. Put the user first<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bix version 0.72, is now available for <a href=\"http:\/\/bbpress.org\/download\/\" rel=\"noopener\">download<\/a> and installation. It requires <strong>PHP<\/strong> version 4.2 or greater and <strong>MySQL<\/strong> version 4.0 or greater for use. You need to host bbPress on your own server &#8211; try <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2006\/09\/nearlyfreespeech-webhosting-pay-for-actual-usage\/\">pay as you use web hosting<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2006\/03\/lifetime-domain-web-hosting-deals-value-for-money\/\">life time hosting<\/a> deals, or try my host Dreamhost.<\/p>\n<p>I had earlier tried out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phpbb.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">phpBB forum<\/a>, a high powered, fully scalable, and highly customizable <strong>Open Source bulletin board package<\/strong>, which installed within minutes thanks to the one click install goodies of my web host Dreamhost. One of the reasons why I like Dreamhost. But it was difficult to control spammers and required more effort to control spam than encourage user participation, so I shut it down.
