Our single posts feature a <strong>336x280px Google adsense unit<\/strong> below the title, and instead of the usual 4 text links and descriptions aligned one below the other, the 4 text links were arranged in a 2\u00d72 box pattern.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"New Google Adsense Unit\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/new-adsense.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"347\" height=\"275\" border=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Filling up ad space using <strong>2\u00d72 ad units<\/strong> is common practice to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2005\/03\/increase-google-adsense-ctr-by-500\/\">get more clicks<\/a>. Many webmasters used to place two 468x60px banner units one above the other or use two 200x200px units side by side to get the same effect of displaying <strong>2\u00d72 boxes of 4 ads <\/strong>together which is a good optimization of ad space. Probably Google is running a test run to see how these ads are clicked.<\/p>\n<p>BTW those arrows are \u2018next\u2019 and \u2018previous\u2019 <strong>arrow buttons<\/strong> \u2013 When a user clicks on the \u2018next\u2019 button, an entirely new group of ads will appear in the ad unit, giving your users greater control over the ads they see and click.<\/p>\n<p>We have spotted <strong>strange Google Adsense ads<\/strong> before also \u2013 You can check out are ads with favicons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2006\/09\/google-adsense-text-ads-without-title-links\/\">no titles<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2007\/02\/google-adsense-ads-with-titles-in-italics\/\">titles in italics<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2006\/09\/google-adsense-ads-without-ads-by-google\/\">no Ads by Google<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2007\/08\/interactive-keyword-links-on-google-adsense-ads\/\">interactive keywords<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I saw a strange new Adsense unit on our blog.
