What is Ella? This version is named for jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald.<a id=\"more-2017\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some important changes are that\u00a0<strong>WordPress 2.1<\/strong>\u00a0requires MySQL 4.0 Database. So if your hosting is still stuck with an older MySQL version, you need to upgrade your database first.<\/p>\n<p>Some\u00a0<strong>amazing features<\/strong>\u00a0are<br \/>\n* Autosave<br \/>\n* Switch between WYSIWYG and code editing<br \/>\n* Lossless XML import and export<br \/>\n* Spell checking.<br \/>\n* New search engine privacy option<br \/>\n* You can set any \u201cpage\u201d to be the front page<br \/>\n* More efficient database code<br \/>\n* blogroll now support sub-categories<br \/>\n* Redesigned login screen<br \/>\n* More AJAX for instant actions<br \/>\n* Pages can now be drafts, or private.<br \/>\n* Admin loads faster<br \/>\n* Dashboard brings RSS feeds asynchronously<br \/>\n* Comment feeds now include all the comments<br \/>\n* Better internationalization<br \/>\n* Efficient upload manager<br \/>\n* A new version of the Akismet plugin<\/p>\n<p><em>Have I upgraded?<\/em>\u00a0No. There are still some\u00a0<strong>compatibility issues of WordPress plugins<\/strong>\u00a0with WordPress 2.1. Not all your favorite plugins will work now with WordPress 2.1. Check out the\u00a0list of plugins compatibile\u00a0with WordPress version 2.1.\u00a0Plugin Developers were warned\u00a0of the MySQL changes and were instructed to upgrade to make their plugins compatible.
