Here are my photos and first impressions from that visit, plus what I would check today before you buy a Chromebook in a store or online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quick answer:<\/strong> Google set up Chromebook counters in Croma stores when Chromebooks launched in India in 2013, and I tried the HP Chromebook 14 and Acer C720 there. Today Chromebooks are sold by many electronics shops and online stores. Apple had earlier had its own counter and staff there, and this time it was Google&#8217;s turn, with Chromebooks in a prominent spot just in time for the Indian festive season sales.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"HP_Chromebook_14_fast_boot_and_a_bright_screen\"><\/span>HP Chromebook 14: fast boot and a bright screen<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The HP Chromebook 14 was on display in white. The 14-inch screen looked beautiful. I shut it down and it was off in about 2 seconds, and when I pressed the power button it was fully on in 5 to 7 seconds. Chrome opened instantly. It had a smaller 11-inch screen and was much lighter than the HP. Its screen was less brilliant, and the Google advisor explained it had an anti-glare coating. Showroom lights barely reflected on the Acer, while they showed up clearly on the HP. I felt the store should also explain what common software could not be installed, so buyers knew how Chromebooks differ from usual laptops. But my advice from that visit still holds: screen quality matters as much as screen size, so look at a Chromebook in person if you can. Before you buy, check these points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Update support:<\/strong> every Chromebook has an end date for ChromeOS updates. Google now gives newer models up to 10 years of updates, but check the date for the exact model, especially for older or discounted stock.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Screen:<\/strong> compare brightness, glare and resolution side by side.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Storage and RAM:<\/strong> more storage and memory help if you use Android apps or keep many tabs open.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keyboard and build:<\/strong> type a few lines and lift the laptop to feel its weight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can compare current models on Google&#8217;s official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/chromebook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chromebook site<\/a>, and browse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/go\/chromebook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\">Chromebooks on Amazon<\/a>.
