The Evangelical Alliance has published the new Ten Commandments of Blogging to “give bloggers a moral edge in a virtual age.<\/em>” <\/span>Based loosely on the real Ten Commandments from the Old Testament, the revamped version provides guidance in online communication.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 10 Blogging Commandments were decided when Evangelical Alliance hosted a gathering for Christian bloggers <\/strong>called GodBlogs on 23 September 2008 at its Headquarters, Whitefield House, in London. The event was designed to give Christian bloggers an opportunity to network face-to-face and to think through a godly approach to blogging<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

10 Blogging Commandments<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. You shall not put your blog before your integrity.<\/li>\n
  2. You shall not make an idol of your blog.<\/li>\n
  3. You shall not misuse your screen name by using your anonymity to sin.<\/li>\n
  4. Remember the Sabbath day by taking one day off a week from your blog.<\/li>\n
  5. Honour your fellow-bloggers above yourselves and do not give undue significance to their mistakes.<\/li>\n
  6. You shall not murder someone elses honour, reputation or feelings.<\/li>\n
  7. You shall not use the web to commit or permit adultery in your mind.<\/li>\n
  8. You shall not steal another person’s content.<\/li>\n
  9. You shall not give false testimony against your fellow-blogger.<\/li>\n
  10. You shall not covet your neighbour’s blog ranking. Be content with your own content.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Most of these blogging rules<\/strong> make sense and are essential for good blogging etiquette (and to avoid legal hassles). What do you think about these Blogging Commandments? Do you follow them?<\/p>\n
