{"id":5542,"date":"2009-01-12T23:56:48","date_gmt":"2009-01-12T18:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/?p=5542"},"modified":"2020-05-24T10:12:05","modified_gmt":"2020-05-24T04:42:05","slug":"new-google-favicon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2009\/01\/new-google-favicon\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Favicon Changes Again!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you visit the Google front page today, you will be greeted with a <strong>new Google favicon<\/strong> in the url location bar and this is how it looks like.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5543\" title=\"new google favicon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/google-new-favicon.gif\" alt=\"new google favicon\" width=\"178\" height=\"31\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Google had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2008\/06\/google-favicon-redesigns\/\">earlier redesigned their favicon<\/a> in June 2008 and this was what it looked like till a day back.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/google-favicons1.png\" alt=\"Google favicon old\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And this is what it looked like before June 2008<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/google-favicon-old.gif\" alt=\"older google favicon\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since a majority of Google users disliked the favicon, Google initiated a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2008\/06\/design-favicons-for-google\/\">favicon design contest<\/a> to help them get a new, better Favicon. Google says that while the<strong> final icon is a reinterpretation<\/strong> of one contest submission, it <a href=\"https:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/googles-new-favicon.html\" rel=\"noopener\">draws on design elements and ideas<\/a> from many of them. Andre Resende, a computer science undergraduate student at the University of Campinas in Brazil, submitted the design that inspired our new favicon.<\/p>\n<p>For newbies, A <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Favicon\" rel=\"noopener\">favicon<\/a> is the small logo that appears in the browser location bar, bookmarks and browser tabs and is great for branding your site.
