The page listed the top gaining searches each week, popular news and image searches each month, and versions for different countries. In September 2005, for example, the top news searches were about Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, and that November the fastest-rising searches included &#8220;puggle&#8221; and &#8220;thanksgiving&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Google also published a yearly Zeitgeist review of the year&#8217;s biggest searches. That annual round-up was later renamed <strong>Year in Search<\/strong>. (The name Zeitgeist is now used for a separate Google event for business leaders.)<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Google_Trends_Zeitgeist_for_any_topic\"><\/span>Google Trends: Zeitgeist for any topic<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trends.google.com\/trends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Trends<\/a> launched in 2006 and does everything Zeitgeist did, and much more:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Trending now:<\/strong> see what people are searching for right now in your country, updated through the day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Explore any term:<\/strong> compare up to five search terms and see how interest changed over time, back to 2004.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By region:<\/strong> find which states or cities search most for a topic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Related queries:<\/strong> see rising searches connected to your topic. &#8220;Breakout&#8221; means a search grew by more than 5,000%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bloggers and marketers use Google Trends to choose topics, time seasonal posts and check whether a keyword is growing or dying. It lists the top trending searches of the year worldwide and by country, across news, people, films, sports, recipes and &#8220;how to&#8221; questions. You can browse past years too.
