If you\u2019ve been blogging long enough, you might have heard the words \u201c<strong>Backup Your WordPress Database Regularly<\/strong>!\u201d Well, this is quite true. <em>Don\u2019t take it with a pinch of salt! <\/em>A healthy backup of your database could one day be THE<strong> ONLY<\/strong> means of restoring your blog should something go wrong such as a bad plug-in installation or an attack by blog hackers.<\/p>\n<p>For a second time since I started blogging, this database backup of a thing, as some would call it, has saved me a lot of headache. Recently I messed up my blog\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/2020\/02\/change-wordpress-permalinks-structure\/\" >permalink structure<\/a> and my saving grace was the day before\u2019s database backup.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">DISCLAIMER:<\/span> <\/strong>This tutorial is provided as it is. I shall not be held responsible in any way should you encounter problems like loss of database and entire blog\/website along the way. Use this at your own discretion. It worked EXCELLENTLY well for me and should do the same for you hopefully!<\/p>\n<h2>How to Backup WordPress Database.<\/h2>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Download, install and activate WordPress Database Backup\u00a0available at\u00a0austinmatzko.com\/wordpress-plugins\/wp-db-backup\/<\/p>\n<p>2. Go to Tools in the sidebar of your dashboard and click on Backup<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9713\" title=\"wordpress-restore-01\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/wordpress-restore-01.png\" alt=\"wordpress-restore-01\" width=\"149\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/wordpress-restore-01.png 149w, https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/wordpress-restore-01-102x150.png 102w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 149px) 100vw, 149px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Under Backup options as shown below, select &#8220;Download to your computer&#8221; and click on &#8220;Backup Now&#8221;. When the backup is done you\u2019ll be given an option to choose where to save the backup. Simply navigate down the Backup option page to Scheduled backup. Select the once daily option and select which tables you\u2019d like included in the backup. Type in your email address, click the schedule backup button and all is well. I\u2019m assuming that your current database has been damaged or is behaving erratically.<\/p>\n<p>1. Log into your FTP account and Delete everything in the <em>\/wp-content\/cache<\/em> directory.<\/p>\n<p>2. Log into PHP MyAdmin and select your wordpress database.\u00a0 It\u2019s mandatory you remember clearly well the name of your wordpress database especially if you auto-installed it using Fantastico.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9715\" title=\"wordpress-restore-04\" src=\"https:\/\/www.quickonlinetips.com\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/wordpress-restore-04.png\" alt=\"wordpress-restore-04\" width=\"195\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A list of all of the tables contained in the database will be shown.
