Watch Bollywood Movies Online Legally: Best Streaming Apps (2026)

Want to watch Bollywood movies online without buying a DVD or risking a piracy site? In 2026 almost every new Hindi film lands on a streaming app a few weeks after its cinema run, and older classics and music videos are a tap away. This guide lists the official, legal places to stream Bollywood movies and songs in India and abroad, which ones have free content, and how to pick the right subscription.

Quick answer: The main legal ways to watch Bollywood movies online are JioHotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5 and SonyLIV (subscriptions), plus Amazon MX Player and official studio channels on YouTube for free, ad-supported films. For Bollywood music videos, use YouTube and the official music apps. Avoid sites offering free downloads of new releases: they are illegal in India and often spread malware.

Best apps to watch Bollywood movies online

Each service has its own catalogue, and big films are usually exclusive to one of them, so check where a movie is streaming before you subscribe.

• JioHotstar: formed from JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar, it combines Hindi films, TV shows, Disney content and live cricket. Available in India.
• Netflix: a large library of recent Hindi films and Indian originals, available in India and most countries, with subtitles in many languages.
• Amazon Prime Video: many new Bollywood releases arrive here after their theatre run. In India it comes with Amazon Prime membership; some newer titles are rent-only.
• ZEE5: Zee Studios films, Zee TV shows and regional movies, with a small free section.
• SonyLIV: Sony Pictures films, Sony TV shows, originals and sports.
• Amazon MX Player: free, ad-supported movies, web series and shows, including many older Hindi films. No subscription needed.

Free and legal: Bollywood movies on YouTube

Several studios and music labels upload full-length older Hindi films to their official YouTube channels, free with ads. Stick to verified channels run by the studio or label, not random uploads. Our guide explains how to watch Bollywood movies on YouTube legally.

Where to watch Bollywood music videos and songs

Official music labels publish new song videos on YouTube on release day, and full soundtracks reach streaming music apps such as Spotify, JioSaavn, Amazon Music and YouTube Music. See our list of the best apps for free Hindi music for details.

How to choose the right streaming service

• Look up the movie first: search the film name with “streaming” or check a guide such as JustWatch, which shows which app has it in your country.
• Start with what you already pay for: many mobile and broadband plans in India bundle OTT apps, so check your plan’s benefits before buying a separate subscription.
• Outside India? Netflix and Prime Video carry plenty of Bollywood titles worldwide, but catalogues differ by country, and some Indian apps are not available everywhere.
• Prices change often: compare current plans on each service’s official site, and use the free sections and ad-supported tiers before committing.

Why avoid piracy sites

Sites and Telegram channels that promise new Bollywood films for free are illegal under Indian copyright law, and they are a common source of malware, fake download buttons and scam ads. The legal services above, including the free ones, are safer and give you better picture quality.

What changed since 2005

When we first wrote this post in 2005, watching a full Bollywood film online was a novelty: a few paid sites streamed movies to broadband users for a monthly fee, and buying a DVD was still the norm. Today large streaming services, free ad-supported apps and official YouTube channels have replaced both, and new films usually reach a streaming app within weeks of release.
