Increase Alexa Ranking

  1. Download Alexa toolbar free. If you are using Firefox, I recommend you to use another plug-in called SearchStatus which not only displays the Alexa rank but it also shows page rank details, no follow links, meta tags, keyword density of a page etc
  2. Put an Alexa rank widget on your blog. Each click will be counted as a visitor.
  3. Encourage your friends or colleagues to use Alexa toolbar. Explain them about the tracking system of the toolbar. Ask them to rate your Alexa website profile.
  4. Try to get dugg or stumbled. This will bring massive amount of traffic to your site and contributes a lot to your Alexa rank.
  5. Write content related to webmasters. This is because most of the webmasters use Alexa toolbar. You may write and post articles related to SEO, webmaster tools. Webmasters always look for new tools and may revisit your website to gain access to the tools. Promote your articles on webmaster forums and social networking sites.
  6. Buy links and banners from webmaster forums. A well displayed ad can bring lots of webmaster traffic to your site and boost your rank. But you need to have unique and good content on your blog to attract more and more visitors.
  7. Write about Alexa and post in your blog. Bloggers love to know about different ways of increasing their Alexa rank. This may eventually increase traffic and your rank.
  8. You may try Alexa autosurfs for a new site or blog. They may work for new sites having almost zero Alexa rank. But they are not a long term solution.

Alexa.com is full of BS! Totally unreliable page ranking system and traffic stats! Easily manipulate your page rank by downloading and installing the Alexa Toolbar then browse the pages of your own website and see your page rank improve by 50,000 or more. Unless the website is in the Top 1000, all data from Alexa is a bunch of crap! Not recommended for use as a basis for website performance whatsoever!

If you can drive just 2000 clicks to your website and have 200 people sign up every day? That’s a big achievement.

I use Alexa to measure my success but I mostly check on daily clicks and daily sign up.

The key is to stay small and target your market. Work on small region or continent or country. You need to run ads on the big player site. Don’t spend big. Try small and limit your budget. Go to forum and befriend with people. You can start with your friends or coworkers. Whether you have blog, online store or other? It’s depend on the way you market your website. Other stuff you need to know?

    1. Make your site as easy as possible to navigate
    2. Write in simple words
    3. Update often
    4. Write something you like and you are expert in
    5. Google before you write that article
    6. If you have online store? You must use google or Yahoo to advertise your site. Sell local on Craigslist and EBay or Amazon
    7. Register on Google business
    8. Register on Google webmaster tool
    9. Submit your site to these engines Google, Yahoo, Msn, AOL, Bing
    10. Type your website to kick the spider bot to craw
    11. Do it often and your website will be on cache.
    12. To get the traffic? Do not spend your money on traffic banks!! Buy ads from big engines. You can target the specific market and demography. You can control your budget. Believe. I have done it for some of my clients site and they have regular hits.

  50. Tania Manulang says:

I did my research. I spent sometime to modify everything on my website. I purchased ads from Facebook, Google, Yahoo. I did not see the alexa traffic do anything on my website. I can easily get into under 600K rank for Alexa rank in 1 month. I did not do anything like Terrence say here. I run ads on Facebook, Google and Yahoo. My budget is so low $5.00/day. I purchase the ads based on impression. The traffic is up and down. I have regular 3K-10K visit in daily basis. Beside running the ads on all the big network I also spread the words to all my friends and ask them to let their friends know about my website.

I do not spam or buy fake traffic. I do not do that because I heard Google and Alexa can drop your ranks and result in search if you do that.

One thing I notice the rank on Alexa is not based on your traffic because if they do that your rank will go and up any time you check your rank. I think they refer your rank based on the search result on Google.

Try it go to google and type your website domain. Take a note how many search result come up under your website domain. Now go to alexa and do your rank. Take a note again.

Redo this step in 48 hours. If the number of the result is stay the same. I can bet you your rank will stay the same.

I monitor alexa rank within 3 weeks and that is my investigation.

Do not use any script because it does not do anything. Do not use the redirect because it does not work. Do not buy fake traffic buy ads on Facebook, Google and Yahoo. It does do something to your traffic.

Update your website often so your visitor know you work hard for your website.

    At least Good Luck.

I noticed when FireFox announcing a new version of browser, the ratings of Alexa takes a down. Why? Alexa plugin is not always on time adapted to the new version of the browser (ex. FireFox 6.0.) and we lose precious days and rating, after users don’t always update of plug-Alexa.

  80. Neha says:

The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis.

The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users)

  81. saurabh says:

Good resource. I would like to know if links from Facebook and twitter are counted as direct back links anymore and helps in Alexa ranking in any possible way. Can you throw some more light on it?
