Project Gutenberg: Largest Free Ebooks Collection

Project Gutenberg claims to be the first and largest single collection of free electronic books (eBooks). Project Gutenberg Mission Statement is to encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks. All Project Gutenberg eBooks are free for anyone living in the United States (check the copyright laws of your country before downloading eBooks) You may download all these free eBooks for your personal use.

Visit the online book catalog and browse by Author, Title, Language or Recently Posted. Keep track of the recently posted pages list with new books that got added or updated with the RSS Feed. Looking for bestsellers? Remember to check the top 100 list and there are some interesting books, novels, and bestsellers there.

Do not forget to read the License and Trademark information which guides what you are allowed to do with the books you download. The key line on the license page is

Always look at the license inside the ebook and see if it is copyrighted. Not all authors have given permission to you to distrubute the book along. If you want to distribute a copyrighted ebook you found on the project, you have to contact the author and stipulate an agreement.
