Nokia N96 Challenges Apple iPhone

Just as Apple iPhone gets ready to debut in India, the latest Nokia N96 mobile phone has opened to pre-booking and promises more next-generation features at a competitive price.

It is powered by a Dual ARM 9 264 MHz CPU with 128MB RAM, 256MB system memory and 16GB of internal memory with microSD card support (hot-swappable). Snap professional photos with the 5 MP auto-focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics or use the video capture (VGA 30fps) mode.

The 3.5mm earphone socket is also usable as TV-Out. Listen to the FM radio with RDS and Visual Radio with 3D stereo speakers. The handset has an inbuilt GPS module (Nokia Maps 2.0 pre-loaded) and also supports A-GPS. Next-generation connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi, 3G support with HSDPA speeds, EDGE class 32, GPRS/WAP, Bluetooth with A2DP and micro USB v2.0 for data transfer.

The battery standards are good too for a multimedia phone.

Tech2 says that Nokia is wooing the Indian audience with Bollywood freebies like preloaded movie Om Shanti Om, 50 music videos, music tracks in Hindi and English and 3 N-Gage games with an unlimited license on for the 3rd edition of Asphalt Urban. It will also have 3 country Nokia Maps that include Singapore, UAE and of course India and a 3 month Navigation license for 8 Indian cities.

So if you are considering buying Apple iPhone on August 22, Abhishek points some drawbacks of iphones 3G which you might want to consider. But Apple products have always sold for their brand value at premium prices. Nokia N96 is going to give some serious competition and is open for pre-booking now.
