Use Google Goggles: Use Pictures to Search

Advertisements

Google has introduced a new product called Google Goggles, a giant leap in visual search, wherein you point a camera at an object and Google figures out what it is!

Google Goggles is a visual search app for Android phones. Simply take a picture of an object with your camera phone and Google will recognize the object, and return relevant search results.

To find information about nearby businesses, just point your phone at a store. Goggles will show you the name of the business, using the camera’s GPS and compass.

Techcrunch guys got a live demo from a Google engineer. Watch it.

As the visual search technology improves, it won’t be long before you stop typing search terms and the camera knows what you want to search just by previewing it!

  1. I am a newbie in the i phone usage. I have downloaded the google mobile app which has the goggles on it. In the settings it says that it is on. I can’t get it to work and I know it is something I am not doing right.
Do I have to be in the app and then go to the camera
to take a picture or what?
