Quick answer: At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, multiply an hourly wage by 2,080 to get the yearly salary. $25 an hour is $52,000 a year, about $4,333 a month or $2,000 every two weeks, before tax.

How to use the salary calculator

  1. Enter your pay and choose the period it is for: hourly, daily, weekly, every two weeks, twice a month, monthly or yearly.
  2. Set your hours per week and days per week. Full time is usually 37.5 to 40 hours over 5 days.
  3. Set paid weeks per year. Use 52 if holidays are paid; lower it for unpaid time off or contract gaps.
  4. Read the table, which shows the same pay in every period.

Hourly to yearly salary table (40 hours, 52 weeks)

HourlyYearlyMonthlyBiweekly
$15$31,200$2,600$1,200
$20$41,600$3,467$1,600
$30$62,400$5,200$2,400
$40$83,200$6,933$3,200
$50$104,000$8,667$4,000

Biweekly vs semi-monthly pay

Biweekly means every two weeks, which is 26 paychecks a year, so two months each year have three paydays. Semi-monthly means twice a month, usually on the 15th and the last day, which is 24 paychecks. The yearly total is the same; each semi-monthly check is a little larger.

Comparing hourly and salaried jobs

  • Overtime: hourly workers are often paid extra for overtime, while many salaried roles are not.
  • Paid leave: if an hourly job has no paid holidays, reduce the paid weeks to see the real yearly figure.
  • Benefits: health insurance, retirement contributions and bonuses can be worth 20 to 30 percent on top of base pay.

The results are gross pay before income tax, social security and other deductions, which vary by country. Track your hours with the hours calculator, and see how savings from each paycheck could grow with the compound interest calculator.
