Top Blog Post of 2006 : The Livejournal Petition

Nielsen BuzzMetrics has tracked the Top Blog Posts of 2006 and say that only 18 Blogs were responsible for the 100 most popular posts Of 2006. These top blog posts were identified based on the number of inbound links from other blogs.

The top blog post is the petition against changes in the livejournal interface. They say the single post was linked to in 801 posts by 786 other blogs from January 1-November 30, 2006.

“What is needed is a clear, concise method of user compatibility and a sleeker, updated look. We have yet to receive one or the other. Not only free users have no say in how we will be frequenting our journals, but paid users -the ones who keep it alive- are barely even gazed upon. Without us, without its users, a blog is nothing but another empty space and a bleak outcome. The staff at livejournal need to realize this, using nothing but a bit of tough love.”

Technorati is showing 897 backlinks to that post right now. That post has attracted over 10,000 comments as they shift to newer comment pages. (Now I realize how difficult it is to get 1 million comments and manage them)
