QR Code Generator: Free QR Codes for Links, Wi-Fi and More

This free QR code generator makes a QR code for a website link, plain text, Wi-Fi login, email, phone number, text message or contact card. Choose colors and size, then download a high-resolution PNG or a sharp SVG for print. The codes are static, so they never expire and work without any account or tracking.

Loading the QR code maker…

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to or stored on our server.

Quick answer: Type or paste a link and the QR code appears instantly. Click Download PNG for screens and documents, or Download SVG for print, where it stays sharp at any size. These are static QR codes, so they work forever and nobody tracks the scans.

How to use the QR code generator

  1. Choose what the QR code is for: a website or text, Wi-Fi, email, phone call, SMS or contact card.
  2. Fill in the details. The preview updates as you type.
  3. Pick colors and a download size. Keep strong contrast, with a dark code on a light background.
  4. Scan the preview with your phone camera to test it, then download.

Tips for QR codes that always scan

  • Size: print at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide for close scanning. A good rule is one tenth of the scanning distance.
  • Quiet zone: leave the white border around the code; it is included in the download.
  • Contrast: do not use light colors on light backgrounds, and avoid inverted (light on dark) codes, which some scanners cannot read.
  • Error correction: use High if the code may get scratched, dirty or partly covered; use Low for the simplest code from long text.
  • Keep links short: shorter data gives a simpler, easier-to-scan code.

Static vs dynamic QR codes

A static QR code holds the information itself, which is what this tool makes. It never expires and costs nothing, but you cannot change where it points after printing. Dynamic QR codes from paid services hold a short redirect link instead, which lets them track scans and change the destination, but they stop working if the subscription ends.

Need a product barcode instead? Use the barcode generator. Make a clean link first with the URL slug generator, or encode links with the URL encoder.

FAQ

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The data is stored in the pattern itself, so the code works for as long as the link or details inside it are valid.

Can I use them commercially?

Yes. QR codes you make here are free to use on menus, flyers, packaging and business cards. “QR Code” is a trademark of DENSO WAVE.
