About this tool
Quick answer: Press Show my location and allow location access. Your latitude and longitude appear at once, with the accuracy in metres. Press Open in Google Maps to see your street address and ZIP or postal code at that spot.
How to find your current location
- Press Show my location.
- When your browser asks, choose Allow.
- Read your coordinates, then copy them, share them, or open them on a map.
For the best accuracy, turn on GPS or Wi-Fi on your phone and stand outside or near a window. Desktop computers without GPS use nearby Wi-Fi networks, so they can be less exact.
Reading GPS coordinates
Latitude is how far north or south you are from the equator (from -90 to 90). Longitude is how far east or west you are from the prime meridian in Greenwich, London (from -180 to 180). Decimal degrees such as 40.748817, -73.985428 are best for typing into apps; degrees, minutes and seconds (DMS) such as 40° 44′ 55.7″ N are used on paper maps and in aviation and boating. The converter under the tool switches between the two formats.
What is my address or ZIP code?
Press Open in Google Maps. The map drops a pin on your exact coordinates and shows the nearest street address, including the ZIP or postal code. This page does not look up addresses itself, so your location stays private unless you open a map.
FAQ
Is my location sent anywhere?
No. Your device works out the coordinates and this page only shows them on your screen. Nothing is sent to QuickOnlineTips or stored. A map site sees the coordinates only if you click one of the map links.
How accurate is it?
Phones with GPS are often accurate to a few metres outdoors. Laptops and desktops are usually accurate to tens or hundreds of metres. The tool shows the accuracy your device reports.
Why is location blocked?
Your browser or phone settings may block location for websites. Allow location for this site, check that location services are on, and press the button again.
