How upside down text works
There is no “rotate” setting for text in messages or posts, so the generator uses Unicode characters that already look like upside-down letters. Some come from the International Phonetic Alphabet (ɐ, ɔ, ǝ, ɥ, ɯ, ɹ, ʇ, ʌ, ʍ, ʎ), some from other alphabets, and some letters simply look the same when flipped, like o, s, x and z. Because the result is ordinary text, it stays upside down wherever you paste it.

Tips for readable upside-down messages
- Keep it short. A few words are fun; a long paragraph is a struggle even when the phone is turned around.
- Use lowercase. The lowercase look-alikes are the most convincing. Some capital letters, such as Q, G and K, have only rough matches.
- Check the preview. If your recipient’s phone shows empty boxes, use simpler words; letters like a, e, h, m, t and y are safe on every modern device.
- Don’t hide important details. Phone numbers, addresses and links won’t work when flipped.

Upside down vs backwards text
