QuickPic WordPress Theme: Free, Fast One-Column Photo Blog Theme
QuickPic is a free, fast one-column WordPress theme for photo bloggers and anyone who wants their pictures and words to have the whole page. No sidebar competing for attention, no page builder to learn and nothing to set up: activate it and start posting. Your photos load in a blink on any phone or computer.

Who is QuickPic for?
QuickPic is made for photo bloggers, travel and hobby blogs, and anyone whose posts are mostly pictures with a few words around them. One framed column puts every post front and centre, and all the extras (search, recent posts, categories) wait neatly in a green box at the bottom of the page. If you would rather take pictures than tweak settings, QuickPic is for you.
Why you will like it
Ultra light and fast. The whole design is one small stylesheet of about 7 KB once compressed. No JavaScript, no web fonts, no frameworks, so your pages load almost instantly and readers on slow mobile connections are never kept waiting.
Plug and play. Activate it and your site already looks finished. The bottom box fills itself with recent posts, categories and recent comments until you add your own widgets.
One clean column. A green header with your site title, a menu bar, your posts in one column inside a dark frame, and a green box at the bottom with a search form and up to three widget columns. On phones the frame steps aside and the page fills the screen.
Room for big photos. Pick the Wide template for any post or page and it gets a wider page, about 1060px for your photos and galleries instead of 660px. And if you like, your home page can show each post’s photo large across the column instead of a small thumbnail, so it reads like a gallery of stories.
Dark mode, automatically. When a reader’s phone or computer is set to dark, your site turns dark too, which suits photos beautifully. You can switch this off in one click.
Your colours. Green is the signature, but you can pick your own header colour (header and bottom box) and accent colour (links, buttons and page numbers) in Appearance > Customize > Colours.
Familiar and simple. Set up widgets and menus in the usual Appearance > Widgets and Menus screens. Posts written in the block editor look just right, and the editor shows them the way readers will see them.
Room to grow. Four widget areas (three columns in the bottom box and one below each post), featured images, a main menu and a footer menu, a custom logo and numbered pages.
Social icons, no plugin. Add links to Instagram, Pinterest, X, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and more to the Footer Menu, and they show as neat icons.
Thoughtful details. An “Updated” date on edited posts, clean printouts of any article, comfortable spacing for comments, and accessible markup with a Skip to content link and clear keyboard focus.
Free forever. Released under the GPL, like WordPress itself, with free help when you need it.
How to install QuickPic
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes > Add New Theme.
- Search for QuickPic.
- Click Install, then Activate. That’s it.
To make it yours, open Appearance > Customize: choose your header and accent colours under Colours, and choose short excerpts or full posts, the excerpt length, and small thumbnails or large photos under Post Lists. Then add widgets to Footer 1, 2 and 3 in Appearance > Widgets. For a photo-heavy post, pick Wide, for big photos under Template in the editor.
