How to convert hex to RGB
- Remove the # and split the code into three pairs: 2B, 6C, B0.
- Convert each pair from base 16: multiply the first digit by 16 and add the second. A to F stand for 10 to 15, so 2B = 2 × 16 + 11 = 43.
- Write the result as rgb(43, 108, 176).
Short hex codes double each digit: #FA0 is the same as #FFAA00. To go from RGB to hex, convert each number to two hex digits and join them.

Contrast ratio and accessibility
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) measure how readable text is against its background on a scale from 1:1 to 21:1. Normal text needs at least 4.5:1 for level AA and 7:1 for AAA; large text (about 24 px, or 19 px bold) needs 3:1. The boxes above show whether white or black text on your color passes. FAQ
What about 8-digit hex codes?
The last two digits are transparency (alpha). The converter reads the color and ignores the alpha.
Is hex case-sensitive?
No. #2b6cb0 and #2B6CB0 are the same color.
