The site was down for 36 hours over the weekend as our web hosting provider Dreamhost disabled all sites on the account for overuse of CPU minutes. After multiple unclosed support tickets went with no response… I knew I had to fix it myself and here is how I proceeded …
9rules blogging network has announced the round 6 results and QOT has been selected to join the network. Recently 9rules Vol 3 launched in a new avatar and opened its doors on May 7, welcoming bloggers to suggest their sites in a 24 hour Round 6 submission round.
Last week QOT was featured on BBC Click, their flagship technology programme and a rush of traffic followed, but it was unlike the traffic you get from other social media sites like Del.ico.us, Stumbleupon or Digg. I share with you some insights about the BBC effect which rocked our site.

Yes! we are trying free full text feeds again. As we cross the 14500 RSS reader milestone today and celebrate 2 years on wordpress, I thank the QOT readers who kept subscribing to our partial feeds. As I checked the Google Webmaster panel today, Google had finalized some Sitelinks for our site after so many years. Honored by this rare privilege for a few big sites, I immediately checked the search results for our site, but sitelinks were still not displaying on our site…
We have been gradually expanding the QOT brand beyond our regular blog. Based on the type of content, it was not possible to share all the cool content on the main blog – so we gradually expanded into a tumblelog, a status blog and now forums.

Recently 2 friendly bloggers emailed to thank me that I QOTed his wonderful article and drove some nice targeted traffic their way with a spike in their feed reader count. It was interesting to hear that similar to Slashdotted, BoingBoinged, you can be QOTed too!

Around 3 weeks back our Google Pagerank dropped from PR6 to PR3. The blogosphere was abuzz as the pagerank crashed for several top blogs across the internet and the Google penalty was attributed to selling text links. Today the Google toolbar is again showing PR6 for QOT!
