Random Date Generator: Pick Random Dates and Times

This random date generator picks random dates between any two dates you choose. Get one date or hundreds, add random times, keep to weekdays only, avoid repeats, sort the list and pick the format you need. It is handy for test data, games, writing prompts, giveaways and choosing a day when you cannot decide.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to or stored on our server.

Quick answer: Choose a start date and an end date, enter how many dates you want and click Generate dates. Every day in the range has the same chance of being picked, and with “No repeats” ticked no date appears twice.

How to use the random date generator

  1. Set the From and To dates. Both dates are included.
  2. Enter how many random dates you need, up to 10,000.
  3. Tick Add a random time for timestamps, or Weekdays only to skip Saturdays and Sundays.
  4. Pick a format, sort the list if you like, then copy it.

Ideas for random dates

  • Test data: fill a spreadsheet or database with realistic birth dates, order dates or log timestamps. The ISO format (2026-10-14) sorts correctly and works in Excel, SQL and code.
  • Random birthdays: set a range such as 1960 to 2005 to create birth dates for characters or sample customers.
  • Games and quizzes: pick a date and ask players which day of the week it was, or which event happened that year.
  • Planning: choose a surprise date for a date night, a team lunch or a family day out.
  • Writing prompts: start a story on a random day in history.

Is it truly random?

Yes. Each date is chosen with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, without the bias that simple random formulas can add. The range uses the Gregorian calendar, includes leap days, and every date is treated equally. Times are picked to the second across the full 24 hours.

Random dates in Excel and Google Sheets

To make a random date between two dates in a spreadsheet, use =RANDBETWEEN(DATE(2000,1,1), DATE(2026,12,31)) and format the cell as a date. The value changes every time the sheet recalculates, so copy and paste as values to keep it. This page gives you a fixed list straight away.
