Spin the Wheel: Random Name Picker Wheel

Spin the wheel to pick a random name, winner or choice. Type or paste your entries, one per line, and the wheel updates as you type. Click Spin and it slows down on a fair, random pick. Tick one box to remove each winner, which makes it a quick classroom name picker or giveaway draw.

Spin the wheel

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to or stored on our server.

Quick answer: Replace the sample names with your own, one per line, then click Spin or the wheel itself. The pointer at the top shows the winner, and the result appears under the wheel.

How to use the spin the wheel name picker

  1. Add entries. Type or paste names, numbers, prizes or ideas into the box, one per line. Up to 500 entries fit on the wheel.
  2. Spin. Click Spin, click the wheel, or tab to it and press Enter. It turns for about five seconds and slows down to a stop.
  3. Read the result. The entry under the pointer at the top is the winner. Your last 20 results are listed under Previous results.
  4. Remove winners (optional). Tick Remove the winner after each spin so nobody is picked twice, for example when calling on students or drawing several prizes.

Is the wheel random?

Yes. The winner is chosen first with your browser’s cryptographic random generator, and then the wheel is animated to land on it. Every entry has the same chance, whatever its position or color. Shuffling or sorting the list changes how the wheel looks, not the odds.

Want one option to have a bigger chance? Add it more than once. An entry listed twice gets two slices and twice the chance.

Ideas for using a wheel spinner

  • Classroom: pick who answers next, form random groups or choose a reading topic. Turn on winner removal so every student gets a turn.
  • Giveaways and raffles: paste the entrants’ names and spin live on a stream or video call.
  • Decisions: what to eat, which game to play, who does the dishes. Try the Dinner ideas preset.
  • Party games: truth or dare, charades topics or forfeit wheels.
  • Work: choose who presents first at stand-up, or pick a random bug to fix.

Tips

  • Long names are shortened on the wheel with “…”, but the full name shows in the result.
  • Paste a column straight from Excel or Google Sheets; each cell becomes one entry.
  • Blank lines are ignored, and spaces around names are trimmed.
  • Your list is not saved. Copy it somewhere if you want to reuse it next time.

FAQ

How many names can I put on the wheel?

Up to 500. Past about 200 entries the slices get too thin for labels, but the spin and the result still work.

Can I pick more than one winner?

Yes. Tick Remove the winner after each spin and spin again for each extra winner. To pick many at once, our random number generator can draw several numbers without repeats.

Is this the same as Wheel of Names?

It works the same way: enter names, spin and get a random winner. It needs no account, and your entries never leave your browser.

Can I use it for a yes or no decision?

Yes. Click the Yes / No preset, or use our dedicated yes or no wheel.
