Indian Blogosphere News : Desipundit Back, IndianBloggers Gone

October 24th, 2006
ADVERTISEMENTS

As I surfed through the Indian blogosphere picking up newsy tit bits, I was surprised to read that Desipundit was shutting down. It is a popular Indian group blog that tracks the Indian blogosphere and a recommended pundit blog.

We are shutting down DesiPundit. Although it has been a great experience, it requires time and dedication that I can no longer afford to give. Other personal and professional commitments must take precedence. Other DesiPundit contributors have understood and supported my decision to do so. I’ll post the tip-offs that we have received before this post and keep the site up until this month end.”

After a flurry of comments, and hundreds of supporters raised an outcry, I am glad that Desipundit is back under control of Saket.

“This is no joke and the post on Monday to shut down DesiPundit wasn’t either. Saket, a long-time contributor, has agreed to take over the reins of DesiPundit administrator owing to a change in his professional commitments. This allows me to take a step back , and entrust DesiPundit in the hands of a blogger whom I can trust *and* who can devote the necessary time needed to handle such a task.”

Another news is that Indianbloggers.com domain name is for sale. It was just recently they were running a popular ranking system for Indian Bloggers, I was listed too, then it started having downtimes and disappeared one fine day. I just checked today and the domain name is for sale. It was a top sites to submit India blogs and find Indian Bloggers.

The competition is tough in the blog ranking space and with so many services around, how many ranking counters can you possibly add to you blog. Anyway, the domain name sale is at AfterNIC domain auctions with a starting bid of $100 only (current pagerank 5) and you can request for a domain name appraisal to find a reasonable price for the domain name.
