Buy Beer for Wordpress Bloggers: New Paypal Donation Idea

June 1st, 2007
ADVERTISEMENTS

A new wordpress plugin encourages blog readers you to buy beer for your favorite wordpress blogger by donating a few dollars via Paypal. Since Paypal donation buttons were frowned upon, sending a few bucks to let your friendly blogger grab a chilled beer, seems to be becoming a popular alternative income source!

I see several popular bloggers using the Buy Me a Beer, a PayPal Donation WordPress Plugin, that allows your readers to donate money to you via PayPal. When your readers click on that button, they are taken to the secure PayPal page from where they can donate money. It suggests $3 for a beer or $7.5 for a pitcher.

This widget enabled wordpress plugin seems to be encouraging readers to donate a few dollars to blogger. Earlier, putting up a Paypal donation button (to support hosting, time and food!) was less successful, but given a cool reason like this, you might not mind offering a few dollars. If promoted in the right manner, it has the potential to emerge as an alternative income source.

So you don’t drink Beer? No problem. For people like me who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, there is a setting to replace the beer mugs with coffee cups too!

  3. I read John Chow just made a few hundred dollars using this plugin for over a week. Remember he is using prime space to promote it with a link beneath every post and in the sidebar too.

I could use one of those, but in my country I only can send money via PayPal and not to receive…
