Which sites can drive traffic to your blog in 2026? When guest author Thomas Oppong compiled the original list of 50 sites in 2010, most traffic came from blog directories, article directories, Digg and StumbleUpon. Nearly all of those have closed or stopped sending visitors. What hasn’t changed is his advice: treat your blog like a business and promote it consistently. Here are 25 sites and platforms that still drive traffic to your blog, and how to use each one.
Quick answer: The biggest sources are search engines (Google and Bing), then Pinterest, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, Facebook groups and Quora, plus your own email newsletter. News and community sites such as Hacker News, Product Hunt and Flipboard can send spikes for the right content. Focus on two or three that match your niche instead of submitting everywhere.

Thanks for the great tips — I had forgotten about posting PowerPoint presentations and the traffic that could be generated from those. It’s also a nice format to present information. I don’t think I’d turn a blog post into a powerpoint, but using existing presentations is easy.

Directory submissions are old news now .. they barely have any effect on driving traffic to your website .. search engines have evolved beyond there initial days where they would look at directory listings

If you believe a post is a killer, especially if users land on your site from search engines through that post,you need to create different version of it and distribute it. slideshare.com has been one of my biggest traffic on alltopstartups.com. The killer post “Startup ideas worth exploring in 2010” still keeps sending me traffic. I used bullets to present the idea on the powerpoint.

Adding my blog to these directories provided quite a boost of traffic for the first day. Lets see if it keeps up (which I seriously doubt from my experience).
