8 Time Management Tips for Bloggers (2026)
Blogging is much more than writing. You also edit images, answer comments, update old posts, promote your work and keep the site running. These time management tips for bloggers help you spend your hours where they count. Guest author Thanh Pham of Asian Efficiency shared the original five tips in 2011; we have updated them with today’s tools, including AI assistants, and added a few lessons from running QuickOnlineTips for over 20 years.

Quick answer: Keep an always-handy idea list, plan and outline before you write, write during your peak energy hours with notifications off, batch similar tasks like images and social posts, outsource or automate what you are not good at, and set a simple weekly schedule that includes updating old posts.

8 time management tips for bloggers
1. Keep an idea list
Ideas arrive at random moments. Capture them instantly in an app you always have with you, such as Evernote, Google Keep, Apple Notes or Notion. When it is time to write, you will never stare at a blank page.
2. Plan first, then write
A few minutes of outlining saves much more time later. List your headings and key points, or use a mind map like the one above with the topic in the centre and main points as branches. Writing then becomes filling in the gaps.
3. Write at your peak times
Most people have one or two times a day when they focus best, often early morning or late evening. Find yours and protect it for writing, not email.
4. Go airplane mode
Thanh’s favourite tip: turn on airplane mode or Focus mode, close email and chat, and shut the door. Even 45 minutes of uninterrupted writing beats a distracted afternoon. A distraction-free writing mode in WordPress helps too.
5. Batch similar tasks
Create images for several posts at once, schedule a week of social posts in one sitting, and answer comments at set times instead of all day.
6. Use AI and automation wisely
AI tools can help with research summaries, outlines, transcripts and proofreading. Schedulers can share new posts automatically. Keep the writing and opinions your own, and check every fact.
7. Do what you do best, outsource the rest
Once your blog earns money, hand off tasks like image editing, technical fixes, transcription or comment moderation to freelancers. New bloggers should learn each task first, so they know what good work looks like.
8. Make a weekly schedule
Plan fixed slots for writing new posts, updating old ones, promotion and maintenance. Updating older articles often brings more traffic than a brand-new post.
Time wasters to watch
- Checking stats and earnings many times a day.
- Endless theme and plugin tweaking.
- Scrolling social media “for research”.
