Ping Multiple Blogging Services with One Click

March 28th, 2005
ADVERTISEMENTS

There are a number of blogging services designed specifically for tracking and connecting blogs.

Why ?
Pinging lets dozens of blogging services know you’ve updated your site and increases traffic to your blog.

Blogrolling scripts like blogrolling.com check update services to see if you’ve updated and then they reflect that on everyone’s site, usually by moving you to the top of people’s blogrolling list or putting a recently updated indicator by your link.

Most modern blogging software packages ping at least one update service, and there are likely plugins or extensions to ping more, but often this requires more work on your part and can slow posting down to a crawl if the service is slow to respond.

So how do you ping multiple blogging services with one click – Use Pingomatic
Just enter your blog name and blog home page, check the blogging services you want to ping,
just click ‘Submit Pings’ and in one click it pings …

Weblogs.com
Blo.gs
Technorati

Syndic8
NewsGator
Feedster
My Yahoo!
PubSub.com
Blogdigger
BlogRolling
BlogStreet
Moreover
Weblogalot
Specialized Services
Audio.Weblogs
RubHub

Cool!
Another very useful feature: It also allows you to add a customized link to bookmark, such that in future you can ping whenever you update your blog.

  1. thanks, good info!

  2. We’ve just launched a new service called FeedShot that will submit your RSS or Atom feed to a list of blog search engines. We’re at 17 at the time of this writing, but are adding more every week. We cover all the major engines (DayPop, Feedster, IceRocket, and Technorati), and it’s free.

It’s set up to do the first submission for your feed, rather than as a pinging service.
