Introducing Our Tumblelog: Buzz @ QOT

I get multiple emails and tips daily, but highlighting most of these on the main Quick Online Tips blog is difficult. Recently introduced to Tumblelogging, I was inspired to create my own tumblelog at QOT Buzz, which will publish interesting links, images, videos, and quotes.

A tumblelog is a variation of a blog, that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging. My tumblelog is created on Tumblr, a wonderful and easy tool for creating free tumblelogs. I decided to host the tumblelog at our own subdomain (made easy by Dreamhost once again!), for better branding rather than a mere mysite.tumblr.com url. Tumblr allows for a full custom template editing, easy video embedding, has a quick positng bookmarklet and generates a feed too.

Now it is easier to get your link on QOT Buzz rather than the main blog, because I can simply link to the video, image, quote or your great article without spending much time thinking what to write about it – that is the wonderful part about tumblelogging. You can send us tips about that popular article you got on Digg.

You can also subscribe QOT buzz feed in your reader and keep updated of new stuff. It is full feed and ads free at present, but if splogs start republishing it, I might make the feed headlines only.

Visit our tumblelog at QOT Buzz. Its still fresh and I am still playing with the template and learning to tumblelog. Tell us what you think in comments and suggest improvements. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Update: The buzz blog has now moved from tumblr to WordPress (I like WordPress too much!). I figured out that wordpress still has some amazing features that Tumbr will need a lot of work to catch up to. WordPress offers an uncomparable degree of customization, archives, categories, SEO friendly permalinks etc.
