Gmail Motion: Control Gmail with Body Actions [Video]

By 02-04-2011   Google

Google has launched Gmail Motion which lets you control Gmail with your body actions. Gmail Motion uses your computer’s webcam and Google’s patented spatial tracking technology to detect your movements and use them as Gmail commands.

Watch the video about Gmail Motion.

Actually Gmail Motion doesn’t actually exist. This is Gmail’s April Fools prank this year! Happy April Fools day to you. What pranks did you play?

Update: Some people actually made this work for real. Using Software Library Optimizing Obligatory Waving (SLOOW), see how it can be used with a Microsoft Kinect sensor to control Gmail using the gestures described by Google. See more Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit (FAAST) capabilities.
