Reverse Video Search Find the Source of Any Video
This free reverse video search tool helps you find where a video came from. Choose a video file and capture a clear frame, or paste a YouTube link, then search the still image with Google Lens to find the original clip, its creator and other copies.
Private by design: your video never leaves your device and is never uploaded to QuickOnlineTips. Only a still frame you choose is sent, straight from your browser to Google Lens, when you click its button. For YouTube links, Google Lens looks at YouTube’s public preview images. QuickOnlineTips is not affiliated with Google or YouTube.

About this tool
Quick answer: Choose your video, pause on a clear, distinctive scene and press Capture this frame, then press Search Google Lens under the frame. Search engines look for still images, so a sharp frame with faces, signs, landmarks or text gives the best results.
How to reverse search a video
- Choose a video from your phone or computer, or drag it onto the box. Videos saved from social apps and screen recordings work too.
- Pick a frame. Pause on a sharp moment and press Capture this frame, or press Pick 4 frames for me to grab four frames spread through the video.
- Search. Press Search Google Lens under a frame. The results open in a new tab. Save frame keeps a copy on your device.
- For a YouTube video, use the YouTube link tab. It gives you Google Lens search links for the video’s cover image and preview frames.
Tips for better results
- Choose frames with something unique: a face, a building, a sign, a logo on a shop or a caption.
- Avoid blurry, dark or fast-moving frames.
- Try three or four different frames; each can match different copies of the video.
- The opening and closing frames often show a title card or a channel name.
Why search a video?
Old clips are often re-shared as if they were new. A reverse video search shows when and where a clip first appeared, so you can check viral videos, find the original creator to give credit, or find the full version of a short clip.
FAQ
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video plays in your own browser and never leaves your device. Only the single still frame you choose is sent, straight to Google Lens, when you press its button.
Which video formats work?
Any format your browser can play, usually MP4, WebM and MOV, up to 1 GB. If a video will not play, convert it to MP4 first.
Can I search a video from a social media app?
Save the video to your phone if the app allows it, or take a screen recording, then choose it here. For a single moment, a screenshot in our reverse image search is quickest.
