Can I convert it to 2-columns?
Simply remove the 2 small sidebars (l_sidebar and r_sidebar) from the sidebar code, and you got a single sidebar to deal with and 2 columns
Can I change the width of the sidebars?
Both the l_sidebar and r_sidebar are 170px wide with 5px padding to easily fit in a 160px wide skyscrapper ad. You can change the width of the sidebars in style.css. Reduce the r_sidebar and increase the width of l_sidebar by the same px.
I do not need to show Blogroll or About?
Simply remove the particular code from the sidebar.
Can I edit the template to suit my needs?
You can edit the css file to blend your content and suit your requirements.
Can I change the link colors?
Sure. see the “a” tags in style.css

The bottle image SRC is noted near the top of the SIDEBAR.PHP file. It’s easy to simply remove that and replace it with an uploaded image or a remote image from another web server.

There a thing called “TOO SIMPLE” :\ and thats what this theme is.. no offence but the header and pages are too simple.. try adding some effects.. its very lite so making it a little heavier won’t matter, i like the dual sidebars tho

BTW Themes do not cause problems with RSS feeds. Its is just a web design change. You need to check your wordpress core files in case they are missing or corrupted.

Simple remove the image in sidebar.php while editing your design. There are many tools online which will allow your to rotate images and ads in that spot.

Edit style.css to change color. Post titles are styled with h1 tags on single posts and h2 on index and archive pages. When linked look for “h1 a”, and “h2 a”.

Susan – TO edit top navigation, edit header.php and the links are within the div tags “topbar”. Change them to whatever you like.
Susan – When you link to direct audio / video files, it will lead to download. You need to embed a audio / video player. If you inserted embed video into a post, be sure to copy-paste and save in the HTML mode. That is a wordpress core feature and not template related.
Anna – Free support is a major feature of QuickPress. You have to edit the author information by editing the theme in sidebar.php and typing whatever text you want.

@Matthijs – you can easily change adjust the width of sidebar, l_sidebar, r_sidebar tags in style.css to change the width as you want.
@js- that is a favicon. You need to create it and upload to your server at the root.

i had installed your them for our blog. however, i am facing difficulties in the same. first of all , the side bar gets distorted when the site/new page opens and only after few seconds it gets corrected. secondly, at many times, the design completely dissappears and only the text shows on the site.. i checked with my hosting and they informed me that distortion has to do with the design and not hosting. can you help me?

-When visitors arrive the default is to show the most recent post. Is there a way to have the same post show (instead of the most recent). Or alternatively, to have a page show. Kind of like a home page functionality.

@sandeep – when text only shows, it means the css file is not loaded. Your hosting or net connectivity need to be checked.

@Kim – You can find many plugins to rotate images. You can select any page to show as homepage from wordpress admin settings.

I was trying to configure your theme for my blog. But pluggins are not working after loading the same in FTP folders, Could you please suggest some possible reasons?
@sandeep – Remove the topbar div tags from the header.php and the black navigation bar can be removed.
@Josh – Edit sidebar.php in Design in wordpress admin to change the author info.
@George – Some plugins require specific codes to be inserted in the template. Some plugins can do this automatically, while others require you to manually add them to the template. The plugin author will have necessary instructions.

@George – Widget order can be arranged from the widget admin panels at Design> Widgets
@Susan – the sidebar works fine for me.
@borris – the latest version has comments on pages.
@sarpras – it is a SEO optimized theme to increase your traffic and therefore money too.
@brenda – you need to unzip on your own computer using unzipping software like winzip or 7-zip, then upload to your server.

We installed your theme for our corporate blog. When we access the home page from IE its not getting displayed properly but works fine in Firefox. At the same time if i access a particular post directly, it works fine both in IE and Firefox.

Jose – It seems by mistake you edited some code out. You can download it again and reinstall the theme.
John – You can replace the text in header.php where your title text shows with img src=”" and put in the link to your image.
Nevermind… i found the problem ! it was the bad html formating in my latest blog post which was causing the entire home page to be broken. Just fixed it… it works like a charm…

mahfuz – The older wordpress versions did not support dynamic widget sidebars without plugins, so it will not work there. Anyway you need to upgrade your wordpress ASAP to the latest version for your own blog security.
On one of my sites I changed the line in archive.php to to minimize duplicate content on the site. But I would like to show more than just a few words when the category is clicked – maybe 15 – 20. Is there a way to change this?
That didn’t work very well! the line I changed read in part – php the_content – and I changed it to php the_excerpt. (I didn’t realize php code in this comment box would not show!)

@jake – You can easily get a static homepage from wordpress admin settings. The kind of 3 columns you suggest would require a lot of code change to QuickPress. Its better to try some theme which already has sidebars like you want.

Nice theme! I’d like to change the larger text in the header because it repeats itself in the page template. If you go to my homepage, you’ll see what I mean. That code is if you want to insert a logo instead of the text. If you want to insert a background in the header, then edit the header tags in style.css to use something like this -
background: #ffffff url(http://www.domain.com/yourimage.gif) top left fixed repeat-x;

One question, I was able to add the navbar/topbar and added a space between it and the header.
I’d like to add a space between the header and content body. So you can see the background, say 10px between the bottom of the header and the top of the content. Is this possible or is the header part of the content? Thanks. =]

I took out the header, more like made it 1px high, and I inserted my own header through divs and everything looks great!

You can replace the image with anything you want. Popular choices are images, ads, videos, and tweets.
I’ve been advised that in IE6 (and one person says IE7 but I haven’t seen that) my sidebar items appear at the bottom of the page. WAY at the bottom. I’ve seen this on three computers and the items are all intact but not where they should be. What have I jacked up?

When your sidebar width is more, in some browsers the main column displaces the sidebar down. So reduce the width of either the main content or sidebar so that both can fit in the same container.
Thanks for the speedy response. To be clear, is it that the “out of box” settings may need to be adjusted? I don’t remember changing the widths. Then again, I may have. (And my mind used to be so good….)
So, if I have changed them, I should just set them back to originals. If not, I need to tweak the originals, n’est pas?

Fixed it. Turns out that some images in the content appeared to have been resized to fit the parameters but were just a bit too large when I looked at their attributes in “advanced” options in “image edit”. I manually resized to max of 450px wide. That did it.

Very nice theme. I have struggled for months to find a decent theme for my blog, but came across yours and it suited my needs very well.
I have tweaked it a bit, figured out how to add a header background image, resized the sidebars slightly, and added widget zones plus adsense ones too.

A friend of mine has given me a CSS snippet that makes the headings in the sidebar standout really nicely. It replaces the “#sidebar h4″ entry in the CSS file (accessible in the theme editor) which can be found around line 142 ish.

Please delete my last comment and this one. You basically have to downgrade your theme to make it work with lower version of WP. I fixed it by replacing your comments.php with an older version from another theme and messing with single page.php.

I have a blog using this great theme that has some long posts, and on the category and archive by date pages I would like to show excerpts instead of the full post.
I looked up on the Wordpress forums, but the examples were not clear.
Please could you point me in the right direction for changing these to only show excerpts, so people have to click on the post title to display the full details.

As regards excerpts, about an hour more of studying parts of the Wordpress documentation and I found enough to be able to modify the theme to make the main page and archives display excerpts.
However, although the month archives mostly display ok, there seems to be 1 post that doesn’t want to for some reason. This post excerpt displays the bottom of the post and then part of the top. I even tried hard coding the excerpt, but no difference.
I wondered if you might be able to take a look and see if anything struck you as a possible cause. It’s only the Busy Busy post. You can see the full content from the post itself.

Just an update on how nice the theme looks with a brand new customized header and the search bar & RSS links removed from the header region. The available RSS and Search widgets are used in the first sidebar to make up for the absence of these elements in the header.

Theme/Site tested on Internet Explore Firefox/Flock, IE 7, Netscape and Opera.
Like some of you, I do experience issues with sidebar appearing at the bottom of the screen in IE 6, but haven’t been in a big rush to fix it.

Just a quick thank you for this great theme. I have a blog network with many different themes and yours is by far the easiest to understand, maintain, and modify…which is why I use it for the only site with *my name on it*!!!

@chat: “Read More” has nothing to do with the theme, you insert it in the WordPress editor and it works automagically :-)

Thanks again for the template. I just installed the latest 3 column 1.4.1 and ran into a problem with the header image. On the main index page the header image shows fine but on the other pages and posts the image doesn’t show – just the background color set in style.css.
Where did I go wrong? I love the template and am using it on other blogs but this has me baffled???
Any ideas?

Hey – I got it. I used the relative path to the image in the header.php but had to change it to the full url and then it worked.

I’m using quickpress wordpress theme. I have a PC, not a Mac and tested it on various browsers.
When I had a chance to see what it looked like on a large screen newer Mac using Internet explorer, the white page with the posts was wider than the blue header.
Anyway to fix this?

I have been messing around with it and its very lightweight and functional. I have a small problem/request though…
The horizontal nav bar you see here on quickonlinetips is something I have been trying to do for ages and can not find 1 script or hack that lets me achieve anything like this.
Would it be possible to implement a nav bar such as the one on this site into QuickPress? If not, would you be able to point me in the direction for one that works cross browsers?

I am going to sound like a loser here, but I just started playing around with wordpress and love your theme. Couple of dumb questions:
Is there a way to import a .jpg as the header in this theme?
2) How do you change the colors? I can’t figure it out.
How to add more links to the Navigation bar??
Edit header.php and go to navbar div. You can add as many links as you like there.
Is this something that was added to the theme since the end of 2008? I looked in my header.php and cannot find navbar.div.

I have been using this theme for 7 months on 3 blogs and I really do like it. The coding is clean and makes it easy to modify – well reasonably easy – I am getting better at it.
I resized the sidebars, and removed the hard coded Blogroll, Meta etc, replacing this by Widgets, which allows the design to be more flexible.
I also added Top and Bottom Sidebars to each column. I want to now replace the hard coded Bottle picture area, which I use for a large Google Ad, into another Sidebar so I can use a widget in there – I want it to look different for each blog.
The other thing I want to do it change the fonts – I am not too impressed with the default ones as compared to some other blogs. That is on my list.
You gave me a really good starting point compared to many other themes. This is a good one to choose.

h2 tag on page title : i just noticed one thing that the theme is using h2 tags for page title. since i am not very seo savvy, i just wanted to know if using h2 tags for page title is better than using h1 tags..

There a thing called “TOO SIMPLE” :\ and thats what this theme is.. no offence but the header and pages are too simple.. try adding some effects.. its very lite so making it a little heavier won’t matter, i like the dual sidebars tho
I need to display more than 3 posts on the category and archive pages. How can i do that? i tried but couldn’t do it. Can you please help?
