Free Essential Blogger Tools for Your Blog (2026)
Blogger is still a free, simple way to run a blog, and a few extra tools make it far more powerful. Our first list of free Blogger tools in 2005 included hit counters, Blogexplosion traffic swaps, Pingomatic and early AdSense. Most of those are gone or unnecessary now. Here are the free tools every Blogger blog should use in 2026.

Quick answer: The essential free Blogger tools are Google Search Console (get indexed and see search traffic), Google Analytics (visitor stats), a custom domain (looks professional and portable), AdSense (built into Blogger’s Earnings tab), an email subscription service like follow.it or MailerLite (FeedBurner email ended in 2021), Canva for images, and Creative Commons licences for your content.

Free Blogger tools for 2026
Traffic and search
- Google Search Console: verify your blog, submit your sitemap (yourblog.blogspot.com/sitemap.xml) and see which searches bring visitors.
- Google Analytics: add your GA4 measurement ID in Blogger Settings to track visitors.
- Custom domain: connect your own domain in Settings > Publishing; see our post on custom domains for Blogger.
Earning
- AdSense: Blogger’s Earnings tab connects your blog to AdSense directly.
- Affiliate links: add product links with proper disclosure.
Readers and subscribers
- Email subscriptions: FeedBurner email and Blogger’s FollowByEmail widget stopped in 2021. Use follow.it or a newsletter tool like MailerLite or Mailchimp with an embed form.
- Feeds: your blog’s feed (/feeds/posts/default) still works for RSS readers.
- Social sharing: Blogger themes include share buttons; turn them on in Layout.
Design and content
- Canva for featured images and graphics.
- Blogger’s built-in themes (Contempo, Soho, Emporio, Notable) are mobile-friendly; customise them in Theme.
- Creative Commons licences to tell others how they may reuse your posts.
Blogger tips
- Know Blogger’s limits on pages, labels and page size.
- Hide the Blogger navbar on older themes for a cleaner look.
- Back up your blog regularly from Settings > Manage blog.
- Write labels consistently so readers can browse topics.
What happened to the 2005 tools
Traffic exchanges like Blogexplosion are gone and never brought real readers. Manual pinging with Pingomatic isn’t needed: Blogger and search engines discover new posts through sitemaps. Third-party hit counters were replaced by Google Analytics and Blogger’s built-in Stats.
FAQ

Add it to Google Search Console, submit the sitemap and publish useful posts regularly.
Can I add email subscriptions to Blogger?
Yes, embed a sign-up form from follow.it, MailerLite or Mailchimp in a Layout gadget.

I am quite amazed by the kind of details your site has. I am thoroughly impressed. I use Feedblitz for my blog [http://issuesinacademics.blogspot.com/] but I haven’t mastered the art of using a feed to promote a blog. You have really researched the subject pretty well. Please accept my congratulations and best wished.
Great list of tools! Although pinging is important and Pingoat doesn’t seem to be working, I have been pinging my blogs with BlogBuzzer.com

Great post and tips. Which widget do you use on blogger to allow people to digg your post, stumble upon, or add to technorati favs? I’ve seen lots of blogger blogs that have this at option at the end of every post?
iHype.com is set to introduce something grand to bloggers who are interested in making money

Just started my site as well and I may have to try some of these tools out. Blogexplosion looks interesting but I’ll have to check each one out individually to try and gain more readers and such.

page digged thanx, does anyone know about rss input for blogspot.
Hello all. First, thanks for taking the time to look at my question. SO here goes. How do you add audio to your page? I mean, do you have to subscribe to a feed some where? Let me also warn you I’m not that computer savvy, so I’ll need some detailed instructions. THANKS!
Do you rank things in your blog? Would you like your readers to provide their input too? Rrankk.com allows you to create your own topic with a list of items for your readers to rank. Topics are embedded easily into your blog pages. Unlike the current standard of radio-button voting, users order the list of items, providing greater accuracy and a better user experience.
Thanks for the useful tools list. I’ve been using Statcounter for quite long now and I’m very pleased with it. It’s simple to use and understand yet gives very detailed information. Also, now it’s expanded the 100 visits archiving limit to 500!
Instead of Feedburner I use FeedButton that lets readers add my blog feed in whatever reader they use.
Seems to work good.
If you’d like to have instant emails sent whenever new content appears on your blogger.com blog, you can use http://www.bnotified.com.
I have recently switched to Feedburner for my RSS email soultion. I have found the emails much neater than Feedblitz. It also keeps the readers on your site via a pop up suscription window. However, Feedblitz has more customization options. Zoodoka is good for sending weekly newsletters.
Good stuff, although Feedblitz is really no good unless you are willing to spam your readers daily, or pay. bummer! Feedburner and Sitemeter very good so far.
here is another interesting tool – it allows you to automatically display links to wikipedia documents that are related/relevant to your blog post. check out the tools section:

Thnaks ! I also have a question I use zookoda to manage my blog’s feeds https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&hl=en-US&passive=true&continue=https://www.blogger.com/blogin.g?blogspotURL%3Dhttp://toutpourlemanagement.blogspot.com/%26zx%3Dwfw4gucd6gns) and I would like to know whats’s difference between this feeds manager platform and feedburner…(Actually i’m not fully satisfied with zoodoka and i would like to know if it could be interesting to change for feedburner !)
Could you help me ?
I am looking for instant traffic maker for free
There is no such thing as INSTANT traffic maker:D
You have to get traffic by using SEO, Article marketing, Forum marketing, PPC, Guest blogging etc… If you do these things you will get traffic for sure!
Ofcourse you can always buy traffic, but usually that will not convert into sales or bring you in ANY money.
google should upgrade their comment system, add some feature like trackback and perhaps top commentators plugin. This should be much more better. Anyway, great tips there.
Thanks for the tips. I searched for Blogger statistics, and your site gives so much more.
Great post!!! Really usefull to me. Today I decided to make my Blogger blog in touch with what blogosphere is now and I was so lucky to find this post at the beginning of my work! I tried most of them, but I only kept the useful ones (at least for the moment, I don’t really need many of them). Keep going!
Good tips, but here is tip number 15:
I recommend you read these reviews to know the best directories to submit your blog: http://blog-dir.blogspot.com/
Many Blog Directories will link back to your blogs but others are only trying to increase their own PR (page rank)by requesting inbound links and they don’t link back!
I’ve submitted this to TagNe.ws – Category: Blogging, I hope it gets enough votes for the front page.
Also, you should mention SiteMeter, it’s a great resource for keeping track of where visitors are coming from, and going to.

“Popular Posts” category? I assume its automatic?
Just added extreme tracking to my blog. Planning to experiment with the rest of the ideas provided here. Thanks for the very useful post.
Check out this list.
Feedburner is a good service but it does nothing for your Google ranking as the feed points to their site and not your own. Still, it’s a pretty good service considering it’s free.
