How to Install Multiple Programs at Once (Ninite, WinGet)

How do you install multiple programs at once on a new or freshly reset PC? Installing apps one by one, clicking Next on every installer, is slow and boring. In 2009 we recommended AllMyApps, a web service that installed a list of apps in one go. AllMyApps is long gone, but there are better ways to install multiple programs at once in 2026, from the simple Ninite website to Windows’ built-in WinGet package manager.

Install multiple programs at once on Windows

Quick answer: The easiest way to install multiple programs at once on Windows is Ninite: tick the apps you want on the website, download one installer, and it installs them all silently with no toolbars or extra offers. Power users can use WinGet, built into Windows 10 and 11, to install many apps with one command or from a saved list.

1. Ninite (easiest)

  1. Go to Ninite.com.
  2. Tick the apps you want, such as Chrome, Firefox, VLC, 7-Zip, Zoom, Spotify or LibreOffice.
  3. Click Get Your Ninite and run the downloaded installer.
  4. Ninite installs everything in the background, says no to toolbars, and uses the latest versions.

Run the same installer again later to update all those apps at once. Ninite is free for home use.

2. WinGet (built into Windows)

WinGet, the Windows Package Manager, comes with Windows 11 and recent Windows 10. Open Terminal and run:

winget install Google.Chrome Mozilla.Firefox VideoLAN.VLC 7zip.7zip

Useful WinGet tricks:

  • winget search name finds an app’s ID.
  • winget upgrade --all updates every installed app it knows.
  • winget export -o apps.json saves a list of your apps, and winget import -i apps.json installs them all on a new PC.

3. Other options

  • Chocolatey: a long-running package manager with a large community repository, popular with IT admins.
  • Patch My PC Home Updater: a free tool to install and update many popular apps from a checklist.
  • Microsoft Store: install apps from your library on a new PC under Library.
  • Mac: use Homebrew with a Brewfile to install all your apps with one command.

What happened to AllMyApps?

AllMyApps let you build a list of free and shareware apps on its website and install them in one go on Windows and Linux. You had to register and install the AllMyApps installer first. The service later shut down. Ninite, which we mentioned as an alternative back in 2009, is still going strong.

Tips before installing many programs

  • Download only from official sites or trusted package managers to avoid bundled adware.
  • Uninstall bloatware you will not use before adding new apps.
  • Keep a saved list (Ninite selection or WinGet export) for your next PC.
  • Restart once after big installs to finish updates.

  1. This is what I’ve been looking for. I especially like that all the programs that you have added in the list will be downloaded and installed on your system one by one without any human interaction. I’ll definately have to try this. Thanks!
