Best Mom Blogs: Where to Find Them in 2026
On Mother’s Day 2008 we rounded up the places to find the best mom blogs, back when “mommy bloggers” were among the most-read writers on the web. Many of those directories and award lists are gone now, so here is what the list looked like then and how to find great mom blogs in 2026.

Quick answer: To find the best mom blogs today, start with long-running independent blogs such as Cup of Jo, Scary Mommy and The Pioneer Woman, then follow the ones you like in an RSS reader such as Feedly so new posts come to you. Many 2008 mom blog directories and awards have shut down, and much parenting content has moved to newsletters, Instagram and YouTube.

Our 2008 list of mommy blogger resources
In May 2008 thousands of mom bloggers were writing about their children, parenting, motherhood and busy lives, and readers needed a way to find the good ones. Our original list pointed to these resources:
- Moms@Alltop, a single page of RSS headlines from top mom blogs.
- 50 Best Mom Blogs, a reviewed round-up by Vanessa Van Petten.
- Ultimate Mommy Blog List, compiled by Guy Kawasaki.
- BlogHer, the network and conference for women bloggers, with its mom bloggers list.
- Blogger Choice Awards, where Because I Said So, Dooce, Snippets of Life, Pioneer Woman, Sarcastic Mom and Ashley’s Closet topped the “Hottest Mommy Blogger” vote.
- BlogCatalog Mom Blogs, a directory with over 900 mom blogs at the time.
- Mothers Day Central Top 100 Mom Blogs Awards from 2007.
- The Mom Salon and its Mom Bloggers Club social network.
- The Mom Blogs, a rated directory of moms who blog.
Most of these were directories and award lists built for the blogroll era. Several have since closed or stopped updating, so we no longer link to them, but they show how big the mom blogging community had become by 2008.
Best mom blogs to read in 2026
A few names from that era are still going, and they are a good starting point:
- Cup of Jo: Joanna Goddard’s long-running blog about motherhood, relationships, style and family life, with many guest voices.
- Scary Mommy: started as a personal blog and grew into a large parenting site with honest, funny takes on raising kids.
- The Pioneer Woman: Ree Drummond was one of the most voted mom bloggers in 2008; her site is now best known for recipes and ranch family life.
- Motherly: a parenting site for new and expecting moms.
Beyond these, the best mom blogs for you are usually small, personal ones that match your stage of life, whether that is a new baby, homeschooling, working motherhood or raising teens.
How to find great mom blogs now
Use an RSS reader
Blog directories have faded, but RSS still works. Add the blogs you like to a reader such as Feedly and read every new post in one place, much like the old Alltop page did.
Follow bloggers on their newsletters and social channels
Many mom bloggers now publish newsletters or post mostly on Instagram and YouTube. When you find a blogger you like, check their site for a newsletter sign-up so you don’t miss new posts.
Search by topic, not by “mommy blog”
Search for the exact thing you need, such as toddler sleep, lunchbox ideas or homeschooling, and add the word “blog”. Personal blogs with real experience often answer these better than big parenting portals.

A Mother’s Day thank you
For Mother’s Day we also shared this video of kids answering questions about their moms: Mother’s Day Video: Kids Answer Questions About Their Moms. It is still a good reminder to thank your mother for all the goodness she brought into your life.
