ADVERTISEMENTS

Dell has officially launched the XPS One, their first-ever all-in-one computer. The Dell XPS One has the computer, flat panel monitor, speakers, 2 megapixel camera and microphone all integrated in a single unit! Now Apple iMac computers have serious competition from Dell…

Announcing the launch, Dell says the XPS One will initially be available to customers in Japan and the United States only.

Cool features of Dell XPS One

  • The 20″ widescreen edge-to-edge monitor is amazing.
  • Motion-sensing multimedia buttons on the right side of the unit. If you move within a foot of the buttons, they light up for just a few seconds (you can insert into the slot loaded DVD without turning the lights on!) before they turn back off.
  • Wireless keyboard and mouse utilize Radio Frequency (RF) technology (does not require pairing like Bluetooth), though standard Bluetooth 2.0 support is there.
  • Requires one cable only to power the system, display, speakers, and the integrated camera and microphone.
  • Loaded with Adobe Elements Studio, which is full versions of these three Adobe applications: Premiere Elements 4-For video editing, Photoshop Elements 6-For digital photo organization and editing, SoundBooth CS3-For audio editing and sound design.

Apple iMacThese are just few of the features in this powerful machine. Brian Leonard, lead designer of XPS One talks about some of the design goals, and discusses how the XPS One design may influence forthcoming Dell products.

This sure will challenge Apple iMac, a complete, high-performance computer with beautiful thin designs in 20- and 24-inch widescreen models, with built-in wireless, powered by Mac OS X leopard, and the new iLife ’08.

    How much does it cost?

That’s a bummer. The iMac equivalents of Dells cost more, not to mention that they don’t have Mac OSX. We all know that one of the most important reasons for sales of Macs is Mac OSX. Given the choice, I’d certainly go for iMacs.

PS: not in India, since they charge 30-35% more than US prices.
